The year 2024 was a period of growth, transformation, and impact for Champions in Action. As part of our mission to empower youth through the Gospel of Jesus Christ, mentorship and soccer, we carried out a series of essential activities focused on team formation and accreditation.
At the beginning of the season, we successfully registered and accredited both boys' and girls' teams, each consisting of 10 players and 2 dedicated mentors. Our volunteer mentors, who came from the same communities as the participants, played a key role in fostering strong connections, providing guidance, and ensuring consistent follow-up.
Reaching Those Who Needed It Most
Our focus remained on high-risk zones and underserved communities, where opportunities for structured mentorship and sports programs were limited. By working directly in these areas, we provided a safe, supportive space where young people could grow, learn, and thrive.
Once teams were confirmed, our Mentor Coordinators oversaw the accreditation process, ensuring that each team was properly registered. They also provided hands-on support to mentors, equipping them with the tools they needed to make a lasting impact.
For the 2024 season, we were proud to have registered:
✅ 17 teams at our Chimaltenango hub
✅ 20 teams at our Guatemala City hub
This meant that we served over 400 children, adolescents, and mentors throughout the season—an achievement that marked a significant step forward in our mission.
