One of the most powerful and unforgettable experiences at Champions in Action is our summer camp season, a cornerstone of our mission to bring hope, mentorship, and spiritual growth to at-risk youth. Every June and July, we take boys and girls on an incredible journey to El Faro, Punta de Palma, Izabal, a breathtaking location where they experience a week filled with faith, friendship, and personal growth.
For many of these young participants, this camp is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity—a chance to travel outside their communities, sleep in a comfortable bed, and enjoy consistent, nourishing meals. But beyond the beautiful setting, the beach, and the soccer games, these camps are about something far greater: a transformational encounter with God and the life-changing power of mentorship.
A Week of Faith, Growth, and Connection
This past year, we were blessed to host over 200 attendees at our Boys' Camp in June, which included 100 boys, 20 mentors, 65 volunteers, and more than 15 operational staff members. In July, our Girls' Camp welcomed 137 attendees, including 80 girls, 16 mentors, 26 volunteers, and 15+ operational staff members.
Throughout the week, our campers participated in a rich variety of activities designed to nurture both their spiritual and personal development:
✅ Biblical Teachings & Devotionals – Helping youth grow in their faith and develop a closer relationship with Jesus Christ.
✅ Motivational Talks – Inspiring campers to believe in their potential and overcome personal challenges.
✅ Mentorship & Community – Building lifelong bonds with mentors who guide them in their faith and personal journey.
✅ Interaction with American Volunteers – Offering cross-cultural experiences that expand perspectives and create lasting friendships.
✅ Soccer Tournaments – Strengthening teamwork, discipline, and leadership skills through friendly competition.
✅ Unforgettable Moments of Joy – From beach activities to bonfires, campers experience laughter, unity, and love in a safe environment.
More Than Just a Camp—A Life-Changing Impact
While the games and beach sunsets are incredible, the most important transformation happens in the hearts of the youth. Many campers arrive carrying burdens—struggles with family, poverty, or self-doubt—but by the end of the week, they leave with a renewed sense of hope, purpose, and faith.
Some hear about Jesus’ love for the first time, while others rededicate their lives to Him. These camps create a space for healing, restoration, and spiritual renewal, reminding every boy and girl that they are loved, valued, and never alone.
